About weight and health
Extra weight, especially around the middle, raises the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pain and sleep problems. It usually comes from a mix of diet, inactivity, stress, sleep, hormones and sometimes medicines. Crash diets often fail because the habits behind the weight don't change.
In Ayurveda, excess weight (Sthaulya) is seen as Kapha and fat tissue (Meda) building up because of weak metabolism (Agni). Treatment aims to kindle metabolism, reduce the build-up, and set a routine that keeps it in balance.
How we treat it
Your doctor plans your programme after checking your weight, health and any medical conditions. It usually includes:
- Udvartana: a brisk massage with warm herbal powders, used daily
- Herbal steam (Swedana) after Udvartana
- Virechana or Lekhana Vasti: cleansing treatments to reduce excess Kapha, if suitable
- A planned Ayurvedic diet: light, warm, vegetarian meals, timed to support digestion
- Daily yoga and walking, increased step by step
- For home: a food, activity and sleep plan you can keep up

Is it safe if I have diabetes or high blood pressure? Usually yes, after the doctor reviews your health. Bring your reports and medicines. We adjust the diet and treatments and check you every day.
Will I be hungry? The meals are lighter than usual, but planned and regular. Most guests settle into them within a few days.
Can I keep taking my medicines? Keep taking your prescribed medicines. Tell our doctor what you take, and agree any change with your own doctor. Your sugar or blood pressure medicines may need checking as your weight changes.
What happens after I go home? You'll leave with a simple food, activity and sleep plan, and you can book online follow-up consultations.
